1. Your lawyer hires other lawyers for your case! 🤝

Lawyers often need advice, permissions, documentation work, and references from other lawyers in various fields across the country. Chances are, your lawyer is looking for someone to do the main work while he presents as the first point of contact for you. And guess what? You are paying extra for this connection. Plus, you have no idea what that other lawyer is like! An individual’s network is limited; they get the first person they find and be done with it. This might get your work done but rest assured, you are leaving with lighter pockets whether you win the case or not!

  1. Not Taking up cases that mess up their success rate!🤷‍♀️

Lawyers love cases as they bring business & fame to them, but do you know that they also outright refuse to take up cases irrespective of it being in their area of expertise or it being strong and clear? Well, it is a lawyer’s duty to provide the requisite legal aid and assistance to an individual that approaches their office, yet, a lot of times, there’s a possibility that the lawyer may not take the matter if it is likely to disrepute him or portray his image in the wrong or negative manner. For example – Politically charged & sensitive cases, etc.

8. You like to, but do not always win. Sad but True! 💁‍♀️

Yes, we know that this abrupt news hurts; however, it is true. A person could have the world’s best lawyer on their side and still be at a good chance of losing out to the other side. A lawyer may not say this explicitly or directly to the client so as to prevent lowering their morale or hope and to not lose out on business, but that does not mean that it might not happen. It is also extremely unethical and immoral for a lawyer to promise that you will win the case! As it is an unpredictable reality dependent on many factors. It is not just about the truth; it is about what you can prove and how the judge reacts to your case.  It all depends…

9.   A lawyer’s associate & assistant shape your case. 🫣

Just like in a hospital, there’s always a team of paramedics, nurses and doctors to help treat & cure patients; likewise, junior lawyers, law students, and paralegals work side-by-side with a lawyer. A lawyer cannot work on his own for any particular case and usually almost always requires some form of research or other assistance. This is why every lawyer usually works along with a paralegal who performs all the basic research and other documentation work needed for a particular case. Talking to and engaging with the paralegals can give a fair amount of knowledge & idea about the core competence of the entire legal team. Often, the lawyer representing the client in court relies upon the research and the filing that the paralegal does.

10. Their History is a Mystery! 🤫

Working in a hush-hush manner, lawyers will never ever disclose their personal or professional history. To show their competence, marketing or advertising is also illegal for lawyers. They will never willingly or voluntarily bring up their previous mistakes or any form of disciplinary action taken against them to their future and prospective clients, such as suspension or fine, some form of compensatory fees paid to another etc.
